Matt, Originally from North Dakota, moved to Illinois in search of undiscovered territory. Upon arrival, he realized that he was approximately 203 years late. Due to the extreme physical strain experienced by his travels, he decided to pitch a tent and call Illinois home. After college and marriage, he jumped across the Mississippi river to be the worship leader at Westside Baptist Church in Waynesville, Missouri and then later moved to St. Charles, Missouri to be a part of the church plant called Matthias’ Lot. Not long after that he discovered the Chain of Rocks Bridge and easily walked across back into Illinois with his beautiful wife, Carrie, to serve at Family Bible Church in Highland as one of the pastors.

Quote: “The devil is skank-nasty.” -Marc S.

Wife: After years of babysitting her, I finally decided to ask Carrie to marry me (it’s a joke…not the marriage part….the babysitting part – she is 5 1/2 years younger than me :) . We married February 7th, 2004.

Children: Adeline Jane, Born June, 2007

Hope and vision for the big C Church: That God would help us break free from the bondages of man-made tradition and that we can experience true Biblical community.

What is God teaching me right now: That he is bigger than any trouble or uncertainty that i’m facing.

A few of my favorite things: Raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles, and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages, tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things…
